Generally: It is difficult to crack a rib while having chiropractic treatment. However, pinpoint tenderness over the rib and pain increased with muscle movement and deep inspiration.

Exam & X-ray: Unusual, but if there was a flaw in the rib- cyst or some other weakness it may be possible. Broken ribs have happened with coughing! sometimes we can feel a callous or rough spot or movement. Generall, x-ray of the chest and some specific rib films will solve the issue.
