Reflux: Lying on your stomach can lead to increased stomach pressure which can then lead to more stomach material (bile, acid, enzymes) refluxing into your esophagus and therefore cause more pain. If you are constipated lying on you stomach can also cause more pain. It is better to eat many hours before you sleep and do not eat or drink provocative foods such as caffeine, alcohol, fatty or greasy foods.

? Reflux, gastritis: May use otcs such as tums, pepcid, (famotidine) maalox, for a few days. Avoid spicy, oily foods, tobacco, and alcohol. Avoid lying down soon after eating. Prop head up with pillows. However, if symptoms recurrent, persistent, worsening, see your primary care or gastroenterolist.
