Chronic Pyelo: Chronic pyelonephritis is the result of any process in the kidney that causes prolonged inflammation and fibrosis (scarring). Common causes include: persistent or recurrent renal infections, vesicoureteral reflux (urine going backwards into the kidney), or urinary tract obstruction.
