No: Laparoscopic nissen fundoplication is the use of the native stomach wall used to wrap around the end of the esophagus to help resolve heartburn or hiatal hernia condition. Lap band surgery uses an inflatable device across the upper stomach to create a small stomach pouch to limit food intake and cause weight loss.
