Possibly: A partial tear of the acl is a challenging diagnosis. There are really different types of partial acl tears, but most surgeons don't really know when to reconstruct. More important is whether you are having symptoms of shifting in the knee that causes swelling afterwards. That is a reflection of instability that allows damage to the knee. Couple that with you level of activity for the answer!
