Gynecomastia: Gynecomastia most often begins at puberty, but can occur at any age. There many causes for gynecomastia and it is important to sort out the cause before choosing a treatment. Anti-estrogens are not used for treatment as they will not reduce the size of the tissue that has already formed. The best treatment is surgical excision. If there is abnormal breast tissue, the specimen can also be checked.
