Is it possible for thyroid disease cause pale gums and gum disease?

Yes: Thyroid disease, specifically hypothyroid (low thyroid), very often causes dry mouth. Saliva is your body's natural protection and when the flow is reduced your mouth does not have the same capacity to remove bacteria. Due to this, those with dry mouth are at much higher risk for gum disease and cavities. Some products can help protect the teeth and gums. Talk to your dentist for specifics.

Not likely: Certain thyroid conditions can affect the gum tissues because of the changes in hormones levels. Color changes are sometimes seen as is more agressive bone loss. These are rare cases and seeing your endocrinologist and periodontist on a regular basis is suggested.
