Variable: On average most heart-lung recipients spend 7-14 days in the hospital after surgery. If all goes well recovery can be within 30 days; if there are complications then recovery can take significantly longer.

Varies: It depends on many factors including the condition of the patient before surgery, other medical conditions, and their age. Most would be in the hospital a few weeks, then recover with physical therapy support either at home or in a skilled facility for a few weeks.
