Could be broken rib: From the sever coughing you had and know it is healing this why you feel slight lump . Also could be costochondritis.

Examination: When you had the severe cough did you seek professional care to prevent scenarios such as this? Have you been to see your Primary Care Physician or Urgent Care since then to evaluate the pain and the rib cage depression? Broken rib or damage to muscles between the ribs are just two of many possibilities. Please seek examination.
