Listen to doc: Would listen to your doc and follow those recommendations. Ask for clarification. Very possible that the restriction is only temporary, or only pertains to intercourse. Not knowing your full history can't provide a more in-depth answer. Likely that the doc doesn't want you to strain your core (abs, back) so possible that some forms of sex might be ok but check with your surgeon.
