Dorwsiness: Otc sleep aids typically contain diphenhydramine, the active ingredient in benadryl. Drowsiness is a big side effect of this medicine so any prescription medicine that can cause drowsiness like pain killers for example should be used with caution with sleep aids containing diphenhydramine.
