Sleep: Sleeping pills, including zolpidem ( Ambien, Edluar) are associated with potential side effects, including next day impaired alertness and motor skills, abnormal thinking and behavior, dizziness and headache. Five mg is the recommended starting dose in seniors. An alternative to medication is good sleep hygiene ( see check list on Health Tap).
