Everyone does: The dawn phenomenon is something that happens to most people. It's just more pronounced in patients with diabetes. For those without dm the increases in blood sugar overnight are still within normal range. If your morning fasting lab blood sugar is normal, but your glucometer says otherwise, your glucometer should be checked for accuracy with a concomitant lab glucose.
