60: In the us, diverticulosis is found i approximately 1/3 of people aged 60. This increases to 2/3 people by age 80. Most people with diverticulosis do not develop problems; approximately 20% will have an episode of acute inflammation, acute diverticulitis.

Younger: These days we are seeing diverticulosis and diverticulitis at younger ages. Anybody with left lower quadrant pain, fever and over 40 should have diverticular disease in the differential diagnosis.

Broad age range.: The textbooks may tell us that diverticulosis becomes more common in our 50s and 60s, but because of our typical American low fiber diet, it's popped up in people even in their 20s and 30s.
