Yes: Blood in the stool may be from diverticulosis, a benign condition. Large polyps can cause bloody stools as can large internal hemorrhoids.

Yes: Bloody stools can be from a colitis including infectious and inflammatory conditions, hemorrhoids, diverticular disease, av malformations of the colon, as well as from upper intestinal sources such as ulcer disease. It should be checked out asap but not just to rule out cancer.No bleeding from the rectum is normal! get it checked.
