A member asked:

Are there medicines for anal fistulas, or is surgery the only option?

No: Antibiotics will help keep the infection from worsening, but once a fistula forms surgery will be needed to remove the fistula tract and the infected anal gland that caused it.

NO: There is no known medical treatment for anal fistulas. This should be treated by a colon and rectal surgeon.
