Depends: An osteochondroma is a benign growth about the knee, it rarely becomes a cancer. As long it does not bother you it can be monitored over time with yearly x-rays. If it becomes larger in size or more painful it should be evaluated sooner rather than later. Sometimes they have to be removed surgically.
