Is a cast required to treat a wrist fracture?

Sometimes: It depends upon the type of fracture. Fractures that are unstable need cast immobilization or surgery. Stable fractures can be treated with just a splint.

Cast: I usually splint the reduction, then cast after 7-10 days. Depending on fracture a plate may be a better option..
