Two different system: Arthritis is basically an inflammation ( done ("itis") of the joints ("arth"). Peripheral arterial disease is caused by a narrowing of the arteries that provide fresh blood to the tissues. There is group of diseases that can cause "arteritis" which is an inflammation of the arteries.
