Blood thinners: Your doctor needs to consider blood thinners at this time. Also a vascular consultation. If the clot is in the arteries of your leg then further evaluation and possible angioplasty may help. If the clot is in the vein then this is more of emergency and needs to be dealt with immediately. If you get shortness of breath or difficulty breathing go to er immediately.

Go to ER: Sounds exactly like a blood clot or dvt. This can be life threatening. You need to go to the er asap to look for the blood clot.

Attention Now.: A sudden onset of leg swelling associated with pain and a palpable knot is certainly suggestive of either a superficial, or more likely, a dvt, this has the potential to lead to a clot in the lungs(pulmonary embolism). You need to rule out the most serious condition and this is done by going to the er and having a venous sonogram done as soon as possible.
