In a large controlled trial, Provenge (sipuleucel-t) was shown to improve overall survival by 4.1 months. There was a 22.5% improvement in survival with the use of this vaccine. It is indicated for patients with metastatic prostate cancer whose disease has progressed despite hormone therapy.
