Strategic relaxation: Often panic can be relieved if you relax into the feeling and just be assured that it will pass. It's uncomfortable but not dangerous. Sometimes it helps to also tap on the bony orbits under your eyes and breath slowly and steadily. It's also a good idea to pursue treatment with a therapist who specializes in treating panic.

Understand Anxiety.: You need to start with a good understanding of what panic is, & what it is not.Cognitive approaches in themselves are not usually sufficient, but they enable you then to develop strategies that prevent or shorten the attacks. Reading may help, but usually having a caring mental health dr take the time to help you understand your particular anxiety issues is the best way to gain insight &form a plan.
