Viral/drug/hives: From the description it is most likely a viral illness or a reaction to a medication, or possibly hives due to something eaten or inhaled. Try an otc Hydrocortisone cream and an otc antihistamine syrup (many brands, your pharmacist can help you), and if no prompt improvement see your doctor. See doctor immediately if any hoarseness or trouble breathing develops.
