What is the average length of time off after spinal surgery ?

Varies: Simple decompression like a microdiskectomy allow quick return within a week for low physical demand jobs (longer for hard labor). Complex reconstructive surgery with implants & fusion may take from 3 to 12 months of recovery. Return to work would also depend on the demands of the job.

varies: There are some spinal surgeries where there are absolutely no activity restrictions postop; a kyphoplasty is one example of that. There are other, major spinal reconstructive surgical procedures that require 8-12 weeks or more of activity restrictions postoperatively. Thank you.
