Longer than low back: Thoracic spinal surgery is usely performed for disc herniation, fractures, infection, & neoplasms. The transthoracic approach is preferable. It normally requires a thoracic & spinal surgeons. The recovery takes longer than lumbar or cervical surgery, because of the major multiple organs and rib cage involved. Plumoraty complications are most prevalent. Talk to your md regarding his recovery tim.
