Nope: Mouth guards do not prevent clenching. They prevent the tooth damage that can result form clenching and grinding. An device that may be able to help you stop clenching is grindcare. It is an external biofeedback device that senses when your muscles are active and sends gentle impulses to stop the muscle activity.

Nio: A mouth guard is designed to prevent trauma to teeth/jaws during activities that have the potential for trauma. An Occlusal Orthotic Night Guard is designed to protect teeth and prevent them from moving while at the same time relieving stress to your jaw joints. They are designed differently, function differently, and are made of different materials. Ask your Dentist for advice.
