Old toe injury: A joint in the toe may have been injured when your toe was broken. This could lead to wear and tear arthritis. This would cause pain. You should see a podiatrist to have the toe evaluated for any residual damage. This problem can be treated.

See your doctor: Either the toe hasn't healed completely, or you may be having some arthritic changes to the toe. See your podiatrist for an x-ray and follow up.
