Yes.: Aggressive flossing definitely will traumatize the gum causing it to recede over time. Proper flossing is gentle and beneficial and the proper technique is best learned from a visit to the dentist or their hygienist.

Technique: As in many things, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. See your dental professional for instructions on proper flossing because improper use of floss can cause gum problems. I haven't checked this, but i suspect there are probably instructional videos available on youtube.
