A member asked:

Can epilepsy be mistaken for tourettes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: Most epilepsies involve an alteration of consciousness, and many associated with amnesia and lack of awareness. Tourette's does not cause loss of consciousness, and is associated with various tics, grunting, coprolalia, but pt very aware of events and even embarrassed. Therefore, unlikely to be confusing, but if so, and eeg may separate out.
