Latent syphilis..: Is likely diagnosed here since three doses of pencillin (should have been so-called benzathine penicillin) was used. In this stage, the RPR or vdrl test may not become negative the way it does in primary and secondary infection. In reinfection, the titer should rise but if it stays more or less the same, the organism, a bacterium not a virus, has not reoccurred.
