Cataract: Indication for surgery is based on how it is affecting your daily life, activities, job etc. Otherwise the outcome is excellent.

Cataracts: Generally don't cause rapid changes in vision unless there is something precipitating rapid development of cataracts like corticosteroid use. Consider the possibility of diabetes where uncontrolled sugar levels can affect vision changes rapidly. See pcp &/or ophthalmologist for thorough exam & tests. When cataracts reach point of significantly reduced vision, usual option is surgery.
