Calcifications can : Be of different type, but are the easy things to see on x-ray, and changes are assessed by comparison of the annual studies. Commonly ultrasound is used to direct a biopsy of suspicious calcifications. Six exams seem a lot. Ask your doctor to explain why so many.

Need the conclusion: Presence of calcifications on mammaogram may be due to an underlying benign or mailgnant condition. You definitely need to get the final mammographic diagnosis and the radiologist's recommendation. If there is enough degree of suspicion a biopsy will be needed to check for possibility of malignancy.

Calcifications: There are many causes of breast calcification, most of them benign. Howver, some cancers can cause calcifications. Radiologists determine the level of suspicion, if any, by the size, shape, and distribution of the calcifications. Follow up with your doctor to determine whether these calcifications need to be biopsied, or can safely be ignored , or need to be followed up.
