Lung Stiffness: Fibrosis or "scaring" of the lungs causes the lungs to be very stiff. Thus, it becomes difficult for the patient to be able to take deep breaths. Over time, the fibrosis continues to advance causing the patient more dyspnea and need for oxygen.
