For some: Anxiety leads to many behaviors such as biting lips or other fidgeting. However, this doesn't mean that you have an anxiety disorder. If you worry all the time and it interferes with your day-to-day life then discuss it with your doc.

Maybe.: Observe when you bite your lips: are you stressed then? Dr. Duvvuri is right; it may or may not be a nervous habit. Either way the next question is how to solve it... Try to reduce stress and see if your lips fare better ;).

Usually: The lip biting can start due to anxiety and then it can continue on its own if the lip swells, just because it is in the way when you chew.
