24 hours: Generally within 24 hours. This of course depends whether you caught the beginning, the middle or the tail end of the lh surge with your test.

1 to 2 days later: Ovulation normally occurs within 24 to 48 hours after a positive opk. Usually it's closer to 24 to 36 hours.

Cant for sure: Even with a predictor kit, you only know that you had a surge of lh, not that you actually released the egg. Although, most women will release an egg. If you have premenstrual symptoms (not pms), like breast tenderness, bloating, ha, etc. In other words, if you know you are about to start, and you have reasonably regular periods, then 95 percent chance you are ovulating.

Confusing : I dont really understand what you are saying. Ovulation kits are very accurate. Follow the directions on the box. If it says you did not ovulate then it is probably right. There are medications to assist with ovulation.

It's possible: If you are using clomid, (clomiphene) you may get false positive's if done to early in the cycle. You should also do BBT charting to assure you are testing at the right time. When your BBT drops then suddenly rises, that it the time of greatest chance of ovulation and thus the time to repeat the OPK test.

A 24-year-old female asked:

What are the different ways you can tell if you ovulated or not? And are opks accurate?

Confirming ovulation: The only absolute certainty that ovulation has occured is pregnancy. Short of that, use of urine test kit will confirm that an essential robust LH surge has transpired. Progesterone can be falsely reassuring.
