Placenta previa: Transvaginal ultrasound is safe and preferred option for diagnosis of placenta previa. It is used to evaluate for resolution or partial previa: -if the previa overlaps by <1.5 cm over os at 20 wks: usually resolves -if the previa overlap >2.5 cm over os at 20 wks: usually persists.

Yes, >90% of time.: I don't even look at the placenta before 14-16 weeks because it is frequently previa without any significance clinically. If it covers the internal cervical os and overlaps by at least 2.5 cm in all directions (one inch) at the anatomy scan (18-22 weeks), then it shall persist as previa at delivery with 99% certainty. If it is >2 cm away from the os at term vaginal delivery is feasible 63% of time.
