Probably Not: Unless the cause for costochondritis was chest trauma, infection, or some other confounding or metabolic condition, there should be little concern for how anesthesia might affect you. No: My guess is that you may have idiopathic costochondritis--tenderness over the chest cartilage. Hopefull this will go away but as far as anesthesia is concerned, it should have no affect on it.

No: The anesthesia will have no effect on the disease. However, positioning and padding will make the procedure less painful. Talk to your anesthesiologist about your condition before the surgery.
