Anesthesia Worries?: You need to be concerned about the long-term effects of smoking more than anesthesia! most of the residual effects of anesthesia are gone in 24 hours-if you have very little body fat, probably even less time. 40 surgeries are a lot. Having that many would indicate some serious problems. I can't imagine any medical condition that isn't adversely affected by smoking.

Most anesthetics : Are metabolized or eliminated quickly. The longer huge anesthetic, the longer it takes to shake the effects. Medication choice may play a role, but prior surgeries do not.

3 days.: Modern anesthetics are essentially removed from the body completely within 72 hours. The most common cause of symptoms after this period are the postoperative narcotics that a patient takes to control pain.
