Big air pockets: When patients smoke, they can develop emphysema. Sometimes the emphysema is such that the patient makes large air pockets that can compress the "normal" lung tissue and thus make the patient short of breath. A bulli, is air trapped inside the lung that cannot come out. Is like having a balloon(bleb) that can continue to inflate overtime inside your chest. Surgery at times can be an option.
