A member asked:

Is it possible to walk on a medial malleolus fracture?

I would not advice: The fracture may be treated with a short leg cast or a removable brace. Usually, you need to avoid putting weight on your leg for approximately 6 weeks. You will need to see your physician regularly for repeat x-rays to make sure the fracture does not change in position.

This depends.....: This depends on the severity of the injury not just to the bone but also to the soft tissues and associated joint. Not all medial malleolus fractures are the same. Some are functionally little more than sprains while others destabilize the ankle. After bone healing has occured you may still have some joint swelling and pain. Return to full activity may take a number of months.
