Follow your: Doctors instructions. If they told you - you don't need surgery then great. If they told you to use crutches - use them . If they said walk in a camwalker boot then that is what needs to be done. They saw the x-ray and know the extent of the damage.

Cast: If you have an avulsion fracture that is in place, than a cast or aircast would be the treatment of choice, if this is seperated from the larger bone, it may require surgical fixation. Don't wait, see your podiatrist or orthopedist for this.
