What is the recovery time for a ruptured acl to completely heal?

It does not: An acl rupture does not heal on its own. Sometimes an acl that has torn off the very end from the bone, can scar down to the surrounding tissue, but it will never function like the original. An acl that does not function causes as much damage as an acl that is not present. The only way to restore an acl's function is by an acl reconstruction.

Not to long: If you have a reconstruction then the acl wil heal enough to starting doing pivoting at 8 months with most people back at full sporting activities in 1 year. If you do not have surgery then you should progress through a rehab protocal that could take several months.

Have it evaluated.: If not evaluated and treated appropriately you may have prolonged pain and instability. Have it evaluated and treated appropriately.
