4-8 weeks: It depends on the severity of the ankle fracture as well as the position of the fracture. It normally takes 4-6 weeks to adequately heal a simple ankle fracture. Although in a walking boot, one could walk almost immediately afetr sustaining a simple fracture. If the fracture is more complex, then it would take longer to heal and walking may not be allowed for 4-8 weeks.
