Depends: It depends on the type of fracture, the location of the fracture and any additional soft tissue injuries that occurred. You want to be certain that the injury is completely and stable before putting weight on it.

4-8 weeks: It depends on the severity of the ankle fracture as well as the position of the fracture. It normally takes 4-6 weeks to adequately heal a simple ankle fracture. Although in a walking boot, one could walk almost immediately afetr sustaining a simple fracture. If the fracture is more complex, then it would take longer to heal and walking may not be allowed for 4-8 weeks.
