A member asked:

Is it possible to get dry sockets through mouth breathing?

Not usually: No one really knows exactly what "causes" a dry socket. There are basic instructions to follow that will help minimize the chances of developing a dry socket but some patients will develop it anyway. Mouth breathing is not a typical reason for developing it.

No: Dry socket occurs generally from food and debris getting lodged in the socket and the formation of an acid that causes the pain.
