A member asked:

Why does breathing through the mouth dry out the throat?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lack of hydration: When you breath in through your nose, the sinus passages and turbulence adds moisture to the inhaled air. Breathing through the mouth is a more direct pathway with little additional moisture in the passageway so dryness is more common.
