A member asked:

Does osteotomy help straighten the legs or correct genu varum (bowlegs)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Usually an osteotomy at your age is geared toward straightening out a deformity that is contributing to progressive arthritis on one side of the knee. The most common deformity is a bowed leg, also called genu varum. In 60% of patients at 10 years after the procedure, the knee is still feeling good enough to avoid knee replacement.
