Histamine: Breaking the skin releases histamine which makes holes in the blood vessels to allow immune cells to go to the scratch. These immune cells fight the germs from the cat scratch. By the way, cat scratches can be truly nasty things with super bad infections. Be careful and watch for red streaks, hot, painful, swollen area.
