Difficult question to answer simply. But a few things. Tobacco-alcohol amblyopia is a result of severe nutritional deficiency. Wine consumption (moderation) may actually help people with macular degeneration. Tobacco is a risk factor for macular degeneration., cataract, vascular conclusions, optic neuropathy, just to name a few.
