Fussy baby: A pediatrician's evaluation and input are necessary. It could be formula-related, food- and medicine-related if breastfeeding, lactose intolerance if gassy and spitting up, acid reflux if regurgitating or vomiting to name a few. Tense moms tend to get colicky infants - try being calm. Take a break - have a close relative or a close friend take over for minutes or hours to rest &catch up on sleep.

Yes, find out if: He's healthy & if his head & body growth are normal. If < 6 weeks old, possibilities include prenatal exposure to alcohol, tobacco, drugs or medications (e.g., ssris for depression/anxiety), reflux, etc. He could have a difficult temperament or need less stimulation. Allow him to settle himself in his own crib to sleep. Do relax before you pick him up; don't feel like a bad mom or take it personally.
