my son has a chip fracture on his right little finger proximal phalanx. do it take time to heal? what are the treatment methods?

Yes : It take about 3 weeks to heel.
1- you could use simple splint to imbolize the firnger.
2- you could body tape the fifth finger to the 4 th finger.

Avulsion fractures: in the finger can be minor with a small fragment but accompanied by a large soft tissue injury to ligaments and tendons, or can have a large fracture that compromises the stability of the joint, Often treatment, the of splint, splint position, length of splinting depends upon many factors. Best to follow up with a hand surgeon. A splint from the ER should not be final rx!
